Dear Shaded Viewers,
One of the highlights of London Fashion Week was the catwalk of Dilara Findikoglu. She made a powerful return to London Fashion Week with her Fall/Winter 2025 collection titled “Venus from Chaos”. The show took place at Electrowerkz, a down on its luck 19th-century warehouse converted into a venue for raves and fashion events.
The collection drew inspiration from the Roman goddess Venus, symbolizing female liberation. Findikoglu aimed to create a world driven by divine feminine energy, addressing the chaos and challenges women face in today’s world and she does not even live in the USA…..
The collection featured corsets made from braided hair, a bomber jacket crafted from hair, a high-neck bodice adorned with safety pins, pearls, and strategically placed conch shells. One model was carrying a beat up pair of converse trainers, there was a collaboration with leather artisan Whitiker Malem and tattoo artist Jonah Slater for tattooed bodysuits. Silhouettes included a mix of skin-tight corseted pieces, a touch of crimson velvet, skinny leather trousers and many sheer, Victorian-inspired looks plus one nearly nude model clothed in her own hair.
Models walked slowly to intense techno music, creating an otherworldly, rave-like atmosphere. Dilara’s message was a feminist manifesto which combined elements of mythology, rebellion and female empowerment. Thank you for the invitation to LFW by the British Fashion Council, I was very happy to be there to witness the return of Dilara.
“Here, what men of power would call a toxic atmosphere is as freeing to breathe as
alpine air. Stripped back to its most elemental, our bodies embrace the promise
of new thoughts, new languages, new traditions. The founding values of this new
world are etched into our skin – a sacred reminder of the day that Earth fell to
Chaos, and out of it Venus was born”
