La Chambre Erotique of Marie Beltrami at the legendary Hotel La Louisiane in Saint Germain

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Valentine’s Day was the launch of the Erotic Room, Chambre 19,  at the legendary Hotel La Louisiane in the heart of Saint Germain. Past residents of the mythic hotel include: Simone de Beauvoir, Ezra Pound, Henry Miller, Jim Morrison,  Keith Haring, Ernest Hemingway, Juliette Greco, Miles Davis, Quentin Tarantino…to me its like a mini Chelsea Hotel in Paris.

Marie Beltrami has made the room into an intimate gallery where she exhibits her erotic art, furniture, poetry, intriguing hand bags as well as photographs and other home decor.  Let’s just say that the room is dedicated to the art of love. This is the same room where Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir spent much of their time. Simone de Beauvoir said she could have spent her entire life in that room. A little fashion history, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge spent their first night together there.

Beltrami exhibited her “Une vie de timbree” a project where she sent an envelope to celebrated politicians, actors, friends, living and dead,  and asked that they send back the enclosed envelope with a little note. Participants in her project included Obama, the Queen of England, Catherine Deneuve and hundreds more. Even yours truly participated in the project.
