This December, Art Basel returns to the Miami Beach Convention Centre for another edition of the ever-successful fair—this year with a renewed focus on the voices, histories, and innovations shaping the contemporary American art landscape. The fair is set to present 283 galleries, including 49 first-time participants.
Running from 5–7 December, with private viewing preceding the main event from 3–5 December, the esteemed fair is generating high anticipation following its announcement that a re-examination of Modernism through a trans-hemispheric lens will sit at the forefront of this year’s programme.
“Art Basel Miami Beach stands at the intersection of culture and the market—a platform where artistic vision and economic energy converge to define what comes next,” said Bridget Finn, Director, Art Basel Miami Beach. “Each edition responds to the urgency and ambition of its moment while laying groundwork for the future. In 2025, we bring together exceptional galleries, artists, and patrons in an environment defined by rigour, exchange, and possibility.”
Among the key highlights is the return of Meridians, curated by Yasmil Raymond, positioned once again as the curatorial epicentre of the fair. This year’s theme, The Shape of Time, explores how artists stretch, distort, and embody temporal experience across diverse mediums and perspectives. Eli Scheinman will also debut Zero 10, a new space dedicated to digital media curation, highlighting the fair’s commitment to emergent forms and technological experimentation. Running alongside the exhibitions will be an extensive talks programme featuring curators, collectors, and artists, offering a wealth of incisive dialogue and critical exchange.
The long-anticipated Art Basel Awards, presented in partnership with BOSS, will take place on 4 December, recognising 11 practitioners and institutions with the prestigious Gold Awards. This year’s honours will spotlight artists and organisations whose work demonstrates exceptional impact, innovation, and cultural stewardship across the Americas. In addition to celebrating emerging talent, the awards will acknowledge lifetime contributions, curatorial leadership, and groundbreaking practices in digital and socially engaged art.
Situated as one of the more established events within the Art Basel franchise—having launched in 2002—this particular fair remains in high demand for its ability to spotlight the breadth of creative excellence shaping today’s artistic landscape. Paired with the awards ceremony, this year’s edition positions itself not only as a celebration of artistic achievement but as a moment of forward-thinking momentum, signalling the continued evolution of art across communities, mediums and generations.
