A Cultural Tapestry: CNCS Unveils Ambitious 2025 Program includes “Christian Lacroix et la scène”, running from April 5, 2025, to January 4, 2026

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The Centre national du costume et de la scène (CNCS) in Moulins is set to unveil an extraordinary year of cultural offerings in 2025, marking a significant milestone as it approaches its 20th anniversary. This prestigious institution will transform its visitor experience through multiple  initiatives that celebrate the rich world of performing arts costumes.

On February 15, 2025, the CNCS will inaugurate two permanent exhibition spaces dedicated to exploring the intricate history and nuanced artistry of stage costumes. These new rooms will showcase a carefully curated selection from their  collection of 10,000 costumes, offering visitors an immersive journey through the evolution of theatrical design.

A highlight of the year will be the much-anticipated exhibition “Christian Lacroix et la scène”, running from April 5, 2025, to January 4, 2026. This comprehensive showcase will delve into Lacroix’s remarkable creative journey as a costume designer, stage director, and scenographer. Featuring over 120 costumes from diverse performing arts genres, the exhibition promises to provide an intimate glimpse into the designer’s unique artistic universe.

Complementing these visual experiences, the CNCS will launch “Les cahiers du CNCS”, a new publication series in collaboration with Silvana Editions. The inaugural volume, released on January 15, 2025, will honor the legendary costume designer Patrice Cauchetier, celebrating his profound contributions to performing arts aesthetics.

Housed in an 18th-century military barracks, the CNCS continues to solidify its reputation as a world-renowned cultural institution, having already attracted over one million visitors since its 2006 opening. These 2025 initiatives not only commemorate the center’s artistic legacy but also promise to inspire and educate audiences about the intricate world of stage costume design.
