Havana couture photographed by Anthon Beeke and Rene Knip for issue 13 BLOOM

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Aside from my constant fascination with the work of the tulip master, Ronald van der Hilst I am totally enchanted by the images of a dilapidated park in central Havana in the current issue of Bloom.

The blanket of dripping green lace covering the trees is a result of a vine that eventually kills the trees called kudzu imported in the Americas from Japan in 1876. It is a hauntingly beautiful death but a death none the less.
