Eyewear brand JUNK. Born and crafted in Veneto, designed in London, and created out of plastic waste

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Over the past week I discovered a new eyewear brand, JUNK. The independent  Italian brand was born and crafted in Veneto, designed in London, and distributed around the globe. The project started in 2019 with initative and the desire to use plastic waste as their main material for the collection of sunglasses and opticals. It took two years to work out the right recipe by involving Econyl® and the most suitable production process that was up to the extravagant design standards the brand was hoping to reach. In 2022 they were invited by Pitti to join Giorgia Cantarini’s project about responsible brands S|Style, followed by a promising response from buyers and press that opened up their International visibility. I’d say that colors, pop shapes and irreverence would best describe the silhouettes, but of course my chosen style had to be black, taking me back to the 90s nostalgia and reflecting about the future and how much our choices can positively impact the future.
