A study of light and dark at Ann Demeulemeester PFW SS 23 by Leticia Dare

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Walking into the Ann Demeulemeester show this season was like walking into a sea of all black. Dedicated fans and followers in a form of uniform in support of the brand including Cher and Tyga, which caused quiet the stir. Upon entry into the venue people were cheering and getting up out of their seats just to take a glimpse of Cher in real life. From the front row to the runway the memo was on point and clear. Full length black looks took center stage, from suiting to shirt dresses and shiny gowns. However the twist was head to toe pure white looks to contrast against the black. Playing with light and dark, the stark distinction between the two proved powerful. Tailoring was on point and masterfully done. With a key push toward shirting – a main icon of the brand – looks were unfolded with further expression and attitude to produce floor length shirting gowns and see-through mesh dresses with shirting pieces placed underneath so that it looked stuck to the skin.

Later,

Leticia
