Ann Demeulemeester Unveils Collaboration with Photographer Allan Schaller – by Aybuke Barkcin

Ann Demeulemeester reveals the story of the Fall/Winter 22-23 collection with a series of poetic black and white photographs taken by contemporary street-photographer Allan Schaller.

The social media campaign photos showcase the Maison’s iconic pieces, capturing the spirit of Antwerp while revealing stories hidden within the flemish city. A dialogue between light and shadow, male and female, internal and external, the shots enhance Ann Demeulemeester’s dark glamorous aesthetic, staying in tune with the brand’s muted, often monochrome color palette.

Schaller’s play with geometry, movement and  freedom, form a harmony with the Maison’s striking silhouettes, evoking a sensual exchange fused with intensity and mystery. Finding beauty in contrasts, the artistic collaboration between the fashion house and street photographer gives birth to a new poetic tale.

“If you look at black and white pictures all you need to understand is right there: a silhouette, a contrast, a mood. It’s the essence.” – Ann Demeulemeester
