G-STAR RAW RESEARCH III BY AITOR THROUP FEATURING MEN’S AND WOMEN’S COLLECTIONS

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Aitor Throup, the Argentinian-born British designer,  launched his 3rd collection of Raw Research with his first woman’s  Raw Research collection. Both men’s and women’s include 10 pieces in undyed calico denim. Then the same collection is hand dyed where the indigo is added to the raw garments giving an organically irregular effect. All new styles were presented in 44 different hand-dyed color options as a metaphor for how the brand is pushing the conventions and constraints of denim. Throup then takes the core elements of denim – the raw fabric and the indigo dye pushing the boundaries of product design keep in mind this is the designer that spent years defining the perfect articulated sleeve long before launching a complete collection.

“We are coming out of an age when technical and functional design is considered inherently masculine. We believe that our obsession with product design principles such as ergonomics and concinnity is as relevant for women as it is for men. By clashing tradition with innovation, the resulting prototypes serve as blueprints for the main collections in the future.” said Executive Creative Director Aitor Throup.

Raw Research III will be available in select high-end concept stores around the world, from early December 2017.
