Heron Preston – debuts his For You collection in Paris

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I met Heron about ten years ago in Paris, it was clear then,  as it is now, that he was indeed headed for success and it gave me great pleasure to see him surrounded by a strong group of supporters and admirers. His collection responded to his personal style and the kind of clothes he likes to wear.  Prior to his debut he had produced one of a kind pieces that he sold on his online shop. Virgil Abloh encouraged Preston to take his original idea of doing a ‘drop’ with caps for HPC and to flesh out the story into a full collection.

The signature running through the collection is Heron, the bird, and his first name. Preston studied the nature and aesthetic of herons, saw one opening his mouth to eat a fish, was intrigued by its orange throat and incorporated that color into his collection. The collection focuses on labor uniform-inspired outerwear, including jackets in a woodland camo print, a bomber with a knit mock turtleneck and a boxy leather jacket, tailored sweats and track pants, accessories, a cap that celebrates Martin Luther King, and embroidered Heron socks. Preston has become a cultural icon in youth culture and also served as the global digital producer of Nike and of course creative consultant to Kanya West, most notably on his work for the Life of Pablo and Yeezy fashion label.

Go click on DP TV above and let Heron tell you about his For You collection himself.
