A video sequence with Chinese boy band X NINE’s singing sensation Xiao Zhan, who happens to be Li-Ning’s brand ambassador, opened Li-Ning’s show in Shanghai’s Henan province. The on-line collection of items worn by Xiao Zhan sold out in 20 minutes. The collection is a mix of classical Chinese garment design, pop-culture moments and a mix of Chinese mythology, western design, 70’s punk, ’80’s new wave and street culture.

Li-Ning was established in 1990, Li-Ning is the Chinese leader in athletic apparel and footwear, rooted in the vision of its founder and namesake, champion gymnast and Olympic athlete, Mr. Li Ning. With 106 gold medals and the nickname “The Prince of Gymnastics,” Mr. Li founded the company with the simple goal of provid- ing Chinese athletes with a national brand to wear on the world stage of the Olympics—historically one of the West’s rare portals and views into authentic Chinese culture.
