ALEXANDRA MOURA – MODALISBOA FW16/17 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY RUI VASCO

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Infused with strength and sensuality, Alexandra Moura's last show -presented during the last edition of ModaLisboa- was highly pleasurable, mixing a sportswear sensibility with romantic touches and textures, such as lush brocades, featherweight mesh and dramatic ruffles. Naughtier than usual, her womenswear was often erotic, with a confident use of transparency and cut-outs, as well as shorter hemlines paired with black leather boots. The fetishistic element, which pervaded the show's most daring moments, was contrasted with sharp lines that hinted at ecclesiastical dress, such as strict, collarless jackets for men or modest shirtdresses adorned with ruffled pockets. Moura managed to balance the sacred with the profane, the frivolous with the minimal. Her collection was a beautiful exercise in stylistic tension, hovering constantly between controlled lines and decorative release.

Best,

Philippe
