ORION GIRET – BACKYARD WOLF – (IN)TENSIONS – OUTCASTS INCORPORATED

Dear Shaded Viewers,

ORION GIRET, the artist currently on exhibit at OUTCASTS INCORPORATED until January 21st studied at theEcole Nationale Superieure des Arts Cergy-Paris. His work links together subject matter and process like personality andappearance. Orlon transforms the materials of resistence and subversion common on city streets into iconic representations of those processes.  Even though, due to the timing of the exhibition, one might think that it referenced the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, however his work never is a reflection of current events. His processes include fuse -lit drawings, which he makes on site, candle-smoke paintings, such as a Molotov cocktail, a burned-out car, a rhinoceros head covered with a smoky surface-a reflection of the human treatment of animals; a video loop of perfectly made paper airplanes crashing into a wall like thenumbing of endless repetition; photographs of thegallery facades he'd painted silver, a visual surface, a fire extinguisher filled with silver paint (his color of choice), the interpolation of 2 car jacks into a columnof concreteblocks.

Later,

Diane
