Only Lovers Left Alive by Jim Jarmusch with Tom Hiddleston, Tilda Swinton, Mia Wasikowska and John Hurt opens 19 February in Paris

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I went to the screening today for Only Lovers Left Alive, Jim Jarmusch's tender vampire story starring Adam, Tom Hiddleston a poetic, suicidal musician living reclusively in downtrodden Detroit and later in Tangier. The love of his life is Eve, Tilda Swinton, a fellow vampire lives there.  It is a highly stylized film with the director doing the sound track with his band, Squrl. The century old vampires have excellent taste in music. https://soundcloud.com/alltomorrowsparties/jozef-van-wissem-sq-rl-the The tracking shots, the editing and the sound design are extremely seductive. Accessories like gloves and what looks like Persol sunglasses play a pivotal role in the film. In fact I haven't seen gloves used so effectively since Cocteau's Orphee. Adam struggles with depression, drinks untainted hospital blood and watches time go by. The undead duo gorge themselves on each other's company until their lives are disrupted by Eve's wild sister , hence the couple moves to Tangier. The film is filled with musical and literary references, all presented in Jarmusch's typically deadpan style.

Later,

Diane

The film is out in Paris February 19th…
