LOOKS, LOOKS, LOOKS: The Next Generation of Designers from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp

Dear Shaded Viewers,

At MoMu, the Fashion Museum Antwerp, LOOKS, LOOKS, LOOKS opens a window onto the creative practice of one of fashion’s most influential educational institutions: the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Alongside finished silhouettes, the exhibition brings together sketchbooks, drawings, and visual research, offering a portrait of the ideas, questions, and discoveries that shape a designer’s journey.

Every creation begins with a search: a material, a gesture, a memory, or a question waiting to be transformed into form. The exhibition follows this process as students develop their individual voices through experimentation and craftsmanship, showing how fashion education in Antwerp continues to balance imagination with an uncompromising attention to construction, detail, and technique.

“LOOKS, LOOKS, LOOKS brings together an abundance of fashion and creativity. The presentation reveals the strength of our students and the intensity of the department. By integrating images of the studio and the students into the scenography, the focus shifts to the people and the environment where the work comes into being,” says Brandon Wen, Artistic Director of the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.

Through this exhibition, visitors enter the space where ideas are tested, identities are formed, and the next generation of designers begins to define its own place within fashion.

I find it inspiring to see how strongly Antwerp supports its creative scene. Having institutions that believe in and nurture emerging talent can be incredibly meaningful for students and young creatives taking their first steps into the industry.
