After five years at the helm, Nicolas Di Felice has parted ways with Courrèges.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the group, and especially to François Pinault and François-Henri Pinault, for their trust. I also want to sincerely thank all the teams and my friends, whose talent and dedication made this human and creative journey so meaningful.”
A Belgian graduate of La Cambre in Brussels, the 42-year-old designer was appointed in 2020 and has achieved great success at the helm of the brand. His rise came as little surprise, given that before joining Courrèges, Di Felice worked behind the scenes with Nicolas Ghesquière at both Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton, as well as with Raf Simons at Christian Dior.
Di Felice has been celebrated for infusing Courrèges with new energy, reimagining its codes and reviving its spirit, bringing the brand back to the forefront of the fashion landscape. Despite beginning his tenure at the height of the COVID-19 restrictions, he swiftly earned the respect of critics and industry figures with his striking runway shows, from confetti-laden runways to futuristic, space-age themes.
His ready-to-wear collections also laid a strong commercial foundation for the house, centred around vinyl jackets and skirts, knits, and denim pieces.
Courrèges will announce the appointment of a new Artistic Director next week, as the ever-ongoing shuffle of creative leadership continues across the fashion industry.
