Dear Shaded Viewers,
Marine Serre’s latest fashion film, “Heads or Tails,” directed by Tess Lochanski, is a hybrid creation, part short film and part runway show, set against the backdrop of La Monnaie de Paris.
At the heart of the film is the enigmatic figure of the Ghost, a symbol of empowerment and freedom, drawing inspiration from David Lynch and Irma Vep. This modern-day heroine embodies the essence of rebellion and grace, navigating a world where control and freedom are constantly at odds. The narrative is layered with themes of autonomy and the struggle against societal constraints, making it a commentary on contemporary issues.
The soundtrack, composed by Para One, is a blend of a Bulgarian choir and excerpts from activist Mario Savio’s speeches, further enhancing the Lynchian influence and adding depth to the film’s emotional landscape. The tribute to Angelo Badalamenti underscores the film’s cinematic ambitions, creating a haunting audiovisual experience.
“Heads or Tails” Marine Serre and her team have crafted a work that is a medium for storytelling and a celebration of the human spirit’s quest for freedom and self-expression.
Later,
