Dear Shaded viewers,
Under the spotlights of a blackened room, Juun.J presented a collection rich in juxtapositions and dimensions. The rolling percussion of the soundtrack echoed like a war cry, as gigantic utilitarian looks commanded the space.
The dark, deep, and earthy palette set a brooding tone, except for the fiery warmth of sienna that opened the show in a monochrome look. Taking shapes and details from hunting and army uniforms, Jung Wookjun battled design elements against each other achieving a beauty and intensity rooted in contrasts.
Washed or inside-out denim and incredibly thick brown fur felt gritty and raw besides contemporary applications of leather and suede. Bold silhouettes defined by rounded shoulders emphasised with full sleeves appeared to bleed into skirts and pants only to be considered slim by relativity. Angular shapes protruded at the waistline with a cautionary sharpness created by the tight cinch of hunting jackets and the way unbuttoned waistlines of bottoms were folded out. Expansive tailoring in double-layered jeans where one pair draped over another created a fluidity around the legs as they marched. In colours and materials to match the garments, chunky boots with thick soles were inspired by combat boots and heels stretched above the knee like a second skin.
Silhouettes tapered in formalwear propositions that also revealed themselves from under jeans; elegant pinstripe suits with black skinny ties paired with sleek leather gloves. For the final look, the voluminous fur metamorphosed into a shining black coat with a trailing skirt that reflected light like the surface of water.
Later,
Eliya
