Courrèges FW25 Pre-Collection is a Geometric Odyssey by Bethany Berkeley

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Courrèges unveiled its FW25 men’s and women’s pre-collection this week with a focus on the circularity of life – cycles, circles, and the powerful allure of motorcycles. Last season’s angular Carré Magique evolves into the Cercle Magique, a softer, more fluid interpretation that underpins the collection’s geometric aesthetic. This interplay of passion and abstract forms reflects the core principles that guide Courrèges’ design philosophy.

This season, Nicolas Di Felice draws inspiration from Gianni Piacentino, a mid-70s conceptual artist known for his minimalist approach and his daring passion for motorcycles. Reflecting both a shared obsession and a signature Di Felice theme, the biker aesthetic takes centre stage in this season’s designs and details. From embossed logo sleeves and snap-collar jerseys to strapped slipper boots, deconstructed elements of biker wear infuse refreshed classics, casting a rebellious shadow. Black vinyl patchworks adorn skirts, accessories, and outerwear, evoking car interiors and a hint of fetishistic intrigue.

Designed for nocturnal escapades, the new Holy Eclipse Bag offers a baguette-like silhouette perfect for the night. Extracted from the base of the classic Holy, it features a detachable harness-inspired strap that can secure outer layers amidst the chaos of a mosh pit. Concealed beneath a heavy leather jacket, a black lace turtleneck discreetly features an arm pocket to safeguard keys and cash during adventures.

At the intersection of the circular form, the body takes on a geometric sensuality, softening the rigid lines. Micro-studs, nude-illusion tattoo mesh, bonded écru lace, and embossed snakeskin bralets add textural depth to underlayers, introducing a playful femininity that enriches the sophisticated essence of Courrèges.
