2018 When I met John Malkovich at Premiere Vision when he was the President of the Jury we talked textiles, fashion and film.

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Yesterday Domenic Leo interviewed the photographer Bart Julius Peters for my biography. He mentioned being at Frieze Art Fair and hearing a voice that sounded like mine but came from a male. They got to talking for maybe thirty minutes. Bart didn’t have any idea that he was talking to John Malkovich. In the conversation Bart mentioned that Malkovich’s voice reminded him of his friend, yours truly, and John said that we knew each other and had been on a Jury together. The Jury was for Premiere Vision for which he was the President of that edition. Thanks to Pascaline Wilhelm I was selected to be on the Jury and it was so much fun. While we were waiting for our deliberation at a long table with plenty of places to sit, John sat next to me giving me the perfect opportunity to interview him. We spoke about his interest in textiles, his own collection and the three films that he directed for Bella Freud. Having a fashion film festival I immediately asked if I could see the films and that I’d be interested in screening them at the upcoming ASVOFF. He gave me his e mail and mobile number and connected me with Bella Freud and the three films were screened at ASVOFF. It was so much fun hearing him describe the making of the films and the subjects and I will always treasure the experience. The conversation was so easy going and natural and I think now I will re-watch Being John Malkovich one of my all time favourite films.
