The Outright Action International works as a global, regional and national level to eradicate the persecution, inequality, and violence that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people face around the world. In celebration of Pride 2022 Balenciaga launches a series of products available via www.balenciaga.com and in stores worldwide to raise awareness of problems faced by the LGBTIQ and the work done by Outright Action International.
The Balenciaga Pride 22 series consists of fitted tops, T-shirts, hoodies, caps, scarves, socks and jewellery with a graphic design based on gendered symbols. The feminine and masculine indicators of a skirt and pants is expressed simultaneously by two figures.
Featured on some products is a chart of inclusivity flags from around the world. Also included are exclusive styles of the Pool Slide, the Track Sneaker, and gym shorts with logos, shoelaces and waistbands in rainbow colours. Anybody is Queer has Patrick Welde photographing a diverse cast wearing items from the 2022 Pride series. The photos show there is not a typical look that categorises lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer humans.
15% of the profits from Balenciaga Pride 22 products will be donated to Outright Action International. Balenciaga is committed to community involvement and directing awareness towards urgent social issues. Funds raised through this series will help address the immediate need of ensuring human rights for LGBTIQ people everywhere.
