Gucci moves into the metaverse with SUPERGUCCI, in collaboration with SUPERPLASTIC through the prism of Janky and GUGGIMON

Gucci and SUPERPLASTIC – the world’s leading creator of animated celebrities, limited edition vinyl toys and digital collectibles – are excited to launch SUPERGUCCI, an ultra-limited series of CryptoJanky NFTs and handmade ceramic sculptures that will go on sale February 1.
The first part of this three-part custom series includes ten exclusive limited edition NFTs, accompanied by a ceramic sculpture handcrafted in Italy and designed in cooperation by Gucci and Superplastic. These NFTs are inspired by iconic Gucci motifs, logos and symbols. They are reinterpreted through the prism of Janky & Guggimon, SUPERPLASTIC’s celebrity synthetics and artists.

For this occasion, the two animated celebrities venture into Gucci Vault, the online concept store created from the vision of Creative Director Alessandro Michele. They find themselves in a virtual environment where Gucci’s past, present and future coexist.  It marks the brand’s move into the metaverse and sets the stage for endless possibilities.

The SUPERGUCCI collaboration represents a long-awaited step for both companies on the path of research, experimentation and forays into the metaverse, following on from Gucci’s visionary virtual experiments and its famous NFT Aria auctioned by Christie’s, as well as SUPERPLASTIC’s highly successful NFT drop Janky Heist, also created in collaboration with Christie’s.

To accompany this latest chapter, Vault also presents its sixth delivery of second-hand vintage Gucci pieces. In keeping with the journey that began in September 2021, these objects have been selected one by one by Alessandro Michele and the archivists of the House, then restored and refurbished. Each vintage item is numbered and delivered in a unique package.
