Antwerp’s MoMu Fashion Museum Launches Reopening Campaign with Leading Designers by Aybuke Barkcin

Dear Shaded Viewers,

World renowned designers Walter Van Beirendonck, Raf Simons and emerging talents Glenn Martens, Marine Serre, Rushemy Botter and Supriya Lele are celebrating the re-opening of ModeMuseum Antwerpen (MoMu) with a city-wide photographic campaign called “Fashion 2.021 Antwerp Fashion/Conscious”.

After a devastating year with the pandemic, the festival hopes to create an open dialogue on the changing nature of fashion. As the name implies, “Fashion/Conscious” will present a much needed reflection and reset on the fashion conscious, emphasising the evolution of the industry starting from the role of the designer to the process of digitalisation, grasping the importance of consumer’s demands on ecological sustainability and exploring the choices behind dress-codes with attention to lifestyles.

Until the museum gets ready to open its doors this September 4th and 5th, both local residents and international visitors can enjoy the festival to see the striking images throughout the city of Antwerp, carrying references of cross-generational connections, evoking emotion and celebrating a new era beginning in fashion, all under the theme of global transition and meaningful shifts.

“We wanted to reopen with a positive, dynamic campaign and images with layered storytelling. Fashion 2.021 includes the notion of 2.0 and refers to the idea of fashion as an industry needing to rethink itself. We wanted to raise awareness around this urgency to change, but do it with images that were positive and joyful.” said Kaat Debo, the MoMu’s director and chief curator.
