Marrknull – AW21: time travel – PFW

I have always been intrigued by the concept of a fashion show. why do we fancy so much the idea of people just walking in line wearing some clothes? You will often hear fashion people -especially boys- say hateful things about more pedestrian interests like football. “I don’t understand the point of 22 men running behind a ball”, we have all heard that, but how about “What’s the point of 32 women walking in line just wearing new clothes?”. We love rituals, and we love even more when someone understands the very root of a ritual, the abstract, and can translate it into a new figure… That’s the beauty in the poetry of the Marrknull fashion film. It’s like they understood the soul of the fashion show, it’s all about movement, it’s all about fiction, about projecting a hologram of oneself being that girl, wearing those new beautiful clothes. I personally found it very moving, the way the models swing in the air wearing the new collection, it’s  full of beauty,  beautifully executed.

Another personal opinion I have is that Marrknull is highly underrated in the fashion spectrum, I almost feel like the brand is the Cinderella among the less graceful evil sisters who also do this type of deconstructions on street wear. I discovered the brand last season and this new collection has not let me down. Definitely looking forward to what they do next.

Ivo Barraza Castaneda

Hello, my name is Ivo. My three favorite things in life are: Thinking deeply about visual creation. I like having long discussions of ideas that might reinvent the course of history. And finally, spending time with the people I love. Since I was a child, I was always involved in some activity around plastic arts, music and literature. That’s how I learned to sew by hand at the age of five, which later led me to focus on my main professional media: Fashion Design.
