CHOCHENG SPRING SUMMER 2021 | NYFW | Text by Ivo Barraza Castaneda.

CHOCHENG seems to be very loyal to its hosting city, in both terms of aesthetics and format of presentation. Their Spring-Summer collection feautures very traditional tailoring. Mostly looks composed of mid-lenght skirts and dresses, styled with 20’s hats and platform sandals. The girls are walking in a white cube, as in most shows in New York and nothing in particular to be said about the music.

The hero of the collection are without a doubt the details of construction. Like those ruffle sleeve openings and double-layer-collars.

If anything, the collection seems like a very generous option for a little upgrade on office-wear, it would be interesting to see that idea played more unapologetically.

Hello, my name is Ivo. My three favorite things in life are: Thinking deeply about visual creation. I like having long discussions of ideas that might reinvent the course of history. And finally, spending time with the people I love. Since I was a child, I was always involved in some activity around plastic arts, music and literature. That’s how I learned to sew by hand at the age of five, which later led me to focus on my main professional media: Fashion Design.
