Dear Shaded Viewers,

A cherished figure within the Greek fashion scene, Lakis Gavalas returned to the runway this month with a cheeky and playful menswear show, which amused the audience and pleased his loyal fans. The Greek designer was on a mission to subvert the classic polo shirt, a bastion of sartorial masculinity. Given the extensive Lakis treatment, the polo was turned into an elegant dress, embroidered lavishly with contrasting beads or simply pleated at the bottom. It also morphed into an anarchic-looking patchwork poncho and was worn as a skirt to twist gender binaries. Sarcasm is one of Gavalas' trademarks and his models were fun to watch, including men from several generations with very different looks. Witty and inventive, Lakis Gavalas doesn't take himself too seriously and he has a sense of humor.

Best,

Philippe
