Friday night, I was at the New York Film Festival for the screening of one of my favorite directors, Todd Haynes' new film "Carol".
The film takes place in New York City during the 1950's and centers on the story of a department store clerk (Rooney Mara) who has a relationship with an oler married woman (Cate Blanchett).
I really liked the movies and the two females lead are terrific.
I wouldn't be surprised if both actresses are nominated for Academy Awards.
And also, the film has the amazing Sandy Powell as the costume designer.
After the screening, the director Todd Haynes and actresses Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara participated in a discussion and Q&A session with the audience.
Now, I'm really looking forward to late November when the Lincoln Center Film Society screens a Todd Haynes film retrospective. The line-up looks great and Todd will be there at certain screenings.
