Dear Shaded Viewers,
Moyra Mullholand (make-up aritst) opened her home for the launch of the Upstate Diary. The Upstate DIary prides itself in shining light on the creative possibilities that thrive in communities outside of the city limits. Case in point, the region of the Hudson Valley is on cultural fire, at the same time there is a real estate boom. Three buildings are being transformed in the Village of Catskill 'from something closed and vacant into something open and vibrant.' Artisans from all over are welcome there and there is also a gallery that exposes their work. At Catskill Mill Project they make useful, beautiful objects using local materials like wood, clay, leather, metal and natuaral fibers under one roof in Catskill, NYC.
The artists that you find in the Upstate Diary either live in the Hudson Valley region or spend their weekends there. "There is a little bit of Hampton North feeling starting to point in Hudson with rich people moving in, but the other towns like Catskill and Athens are still very much Brooklyn North.
Even better.
