Y/PROJECT BY GLENN MARTENS FW 15/16 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY SONNY VANDEVELDE

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Glenn Martens presented a youthful and hard-edged collection for Y/Project yesterday, referencing the manic energy of late 80s House culture. Plastics and man-made fabrics were key, as well as metallic grommets, which gave an industrial feel to impeccably tailored pieces. Martens focused on oversize shapes this season, emphasizing the cozy appeal of his coats and jackets. Pants were long and fluid, while shirts were cut close to the body. The combination of extreme formality and sporty styles worked well on the runway, illustrating the Belgian designer's precise understanding of sharpness and proportions. A beautiful, vibrant red punctuated some of the show's strongest looks, offering much-needed energy to the weary fashion flock.

Best,

Philippe
