Dear Shaded Viewers,
On July 8, seven recent fashion graduates came together in Bucharest for UNINVITED., an independent runway presentation introducing the debut collections of Dominik Lénard Csankovszky, Alexia Maria Oproescu, Teodora Nechita, Maria Enache, Raul Rădulescu, Harun Mazlam, and Mario Gerald. Each collection was developed over the course of three years.

Rather than following a single creative direction, the designers presented seven distinct points of view. One collection reflected on religion and identity, another revisited the visual language of the early 2000s, while others explored childhood, family, gender, memory, and personal transformation. Seen together, the event became less about a shared aesthetic than about the range of ideas shaping a new generation of Romanian fashion.

Held at STRATA MODUL, this project initiated by Teodora Nechita also offered a glimpse into everything that happens before the lights come up. Guests moved between the backstage on the ground floor and the runway above, following the rhythm of fittings, last-minute adjustments, photographers, hair and makeup artists, technicians, and volunteers working alongside the designers. It was a reminder that a fashion show is never the work of one person. It takes many hands long before the audience takes its seats.

For many young designers, the greatest challenge comes after graduation. Developing a collection is only part of the process. Finding opportunities to present it, connect with an audience, and enter an industry where visibility is often limited can be equally demanding. UNINVITED. grew from that reality, proposing an alternative space where emerging voices could be seen on their own terms through a shared effort rather than an established institution.

Projects like this bring communities together and help create culture. As much as they introduce new designers, they also strengthen the conversations, collaborations, and networks that allow independent fashion to grow.
