Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,
(Hieronymus Bosch is one of my favourite painters so perhaps take the following review with a grain of salt.)
UNDERCOVER WAS THE BEST. Jun Takahashi's SS15 presentation was twisted and romantic, and completely exceeded my expectations. The audience gasped when the opening three looks emerged as pastel 50s-style evening dresses, worn with black wings. Takahashi's narrative then progressed further into evils and innocence. Pastel fairy pyjamas appeared between tech-fabric coats with integrated screens set as enlarged cameos where black crows fluttered in whimsical gifs. Wood-grain printed skirts were paired with forrest green tops and jackets; an entirely naive representation though complex in design. Then came the Bosch. Splayed across successive outfits, The Garden of Earthly Delights presented this fantastical anti-establishment presentation in context. Deeply and romantically pessimistic, the show finished with the models in full black garments and of course, black wings.
Mr Takahashi presented a collection that was as emotional as it was brilliant. A real privilege to see.
