CEDRIC JACQUEMYN SS/15 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Showing his last collection during Paris Menswear -and opting for the installation format at SOME/THINGS- Cedric Jacquemyn is one of Belgium's most intriguing and innovative designers. Inspired by the uncontacted tribes of the Amazon, Jacquemyn pursued his exploration of intricate tailoring, textured leathers and striking knitwear, underlining his interest in the contradictory forces of preservation and disappearance. The inner construction of garments is exposed while textural contrasts remain key within the line, from rough to soft. This season, Jacquemyn also launched womenswear, responding to an ongoing demand from his clients. His clothes manage to be refined and experimental at the same time, moving away from ubiquitous sportswear.

Best,

Philippe
