Pitti Imagine Uomo – 60 years of firenze hometown of fashion – By Sophie Joy Wright

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Before I can tell you about today's activities, check out what went on yesterday.

For the 60th anniversary of Firenze Hometown of Fashion, an initiative celebrating the heritage of Florentine tradition, craftsmanship and creativity, there was a wonderful event last night at the new Opera di Firenze.
There was an exhibition of the exquisite costumes by Sartoria Tirelli, an Italian atelier responsible for some of the most beautiful opera and film costumes over the last 50 years.

Dress worn by Silvana Mangano in Morte a Venezia, 1971, featuring a silver-beaded fringe and embroidery on chiffon.

It’s the original laser-cutting, no?

Then there was a concert when Andrea Bocelli sung in the new theatre with soprano Patrizia Orciano. The space, combined with Mr Bocelli made for what was a spiritual experience. What a privilege to be there!

At this point I couldn’t stop smiling and then there was a cocktail reception. As the post-rain, ominous sky passed over, the already stunning setting became somewhat of a Hockney painting. Don’t ask me how. It happened.

Thank you Pitti Uomo and happy birthday Firenze Hometown of Fashion!

Everyone else, Happy Tuesday,

Sophie Joy
