PIECE D’ANARCHIVE – SOPHIE JOY WRIGHT

P1500238

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

The presentation by Piece D'Anarchive at the new Palais de Tokyo space, YOYO, was very cool. The collection from the cult label by sisters Priscilla and Deborah Royer, was inspired by artist Jean-Pierre Raynaud, who in fact specifically created an instillation of 81 buckets filled with rubble from the artist's own house, just for this presentation. This was set with a backdrop of a looping film of the collection on the huge YOYO screen, and then surrounded on three sides with racks of the spring/summer collection in merchandised tableaus.
The whole event felt more like a branding exercise than an actual presentation of a collection, but that's what fashion week's about, right? Anyway, in this case, it was done very well.
