Over the last four days (plus one additional day for the young designers at the samsungEGO), 31 designers represented spain in what pretended to be an international fashion week. But sometimes, even with important sponsors such as Mercedes-Benz, Samsung or Ebay, and they always help, there is a lack of quality and the innovation in the designs, and I feel that Madrid has been clinging to the 80's, and the crisis is more than just economic, Spain is suffering from an intellectual and creative crisis. I've participated in Madrid Fashion Week for the past 10 years, and, honestly, the last couple years have been the most boring shows I've ever seen, (of course with a few exceptions) I really miss those years of quantity and quality, those years full of craziness, and creativity, when Sybilla, Jose Castro, and Spastor showed their stunning collections.
