Brigitte Bardot and the Original Paparazzi at the James Hyman Gallery in London 3 September – 3 October

Brigitte Bardot (Le Mepris 1)

Bardot on the set of Jean-Luc Godard's 1963 film Le Mepris

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Brigitte Bardot celebrates her 75th birthday this September and the James Hyman Gallery on Saville Row is hosting an exhibition of rare and unseen original photographs. The prints also celebrate the 50th birthday of the 'paparazzi' and displays never before seen shots which document the development of what was then a new aesthetic and genre of photography.

Bardot on the set of the 1958 film Love is my Profession (the scene was censored from the final edit)

The exhibition shows the key references of Bardot and their effect on fashion at the moment (Gaultier for AW 09 couture was a nod to Bardot in Le Mepris and his current campaign depicting Lara Stone again in the style of Bardot).
