Dear Shaded Viewers,
I met Thomas Mailaender a few years ago when he was participating in the photography contest at the festival d’Hyeres. One of the series in his book was Indian weight lifters with their bodies greased up the color of tandoori chicken. To date that image has never completely left my mind.
Absurdity runs through all the photos of Thomas Mailaender. His works include asking a baker to make a baguette 2.5 meters long, and (in the same series) piling 20kg of pasta on a picnic table.
