Dear Shaded Viewers,
On my last day in Antwerp I had the pleasure of the company of an angel and his prince, David Flamee, ModeNatie. He took me around and showed me what turned out to be my favorite windows for the Vitrine and then we went to see Lucy and I totally enjoyed the Bernhard Willhelm exhibit at the MoMu, , more on that later.
Vitrine 2007 Surfaces continues until 9-16-07, here are some of the highlights.
If you are in Antwerp you will want to watch the transformation of this princess. Each day she will deform like a freezer that fills up with ice. THe work is by artist Loreta Visic and today until 7 October you can visit her open studio. Pass by the shop Louis for more details.
Ninette Murk’s Designers against Aids. Every day around 30 of the ribbons fall down so she ends up going back and re-gluing them back on. The opening night of the vitrine Javier and Ninette put themselves in the shop window. “it was hilarious, especially after dark, some old ladies with poodles walked by with a look in their eyes that said ‘there goes the neighbourhood’ (lol)!”

The biggest Yohji shop on the planet is opening soon to Antwerp, Yohji and his mother will arrive for the opening.
It’s a very friendly feeling when you start running into people in the streets and at my favorite lunching spot, Pain Quotitien.
Lunch at Pain Quotitien and Walter Van Beirendonck and Dirk Van Saene. It’s the moment of the entry exams at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. In addition to an intense selection the applicants are required to learn Flemish. They are offered a crash course.
