Dear Shaded Viewers,
the aw07 video+collection “ousted” is the second part of a triology. its the sequel to “day-01” (the ss07 project – a range of swimsuits and rain coats) which dealt with the vision of an apocalyptic day caused by catastrophic weather and nature occurences.
for the following “ousted” Pelican Avenue took video stills from the “day-01” video, printed them on flags for the installation and translated them into a collection of knitted jaquards, embroidered and printed t-shirts, patchworked blouses. All of the clothes were made to have a protective “warrior like” spirit. the use of the video stills from the past can be seen as a reference to the former world, something to hold on to when nothing else is left.
the project stands for the new beginning after the apocalypse, for desolation but also pureness and hope.
