Dear Shaded Viewers,
My friend Maria de Medeiros sent me an invitation to the screening tonight of Je Ne Suis Pas Mort, she is in Brazil acting in a play and unfortunately won't be there but she highly recommended the film to me. I'm in a nostalgic mood these past few days, so I pulled out an old styling job I did for JOYCE, Hong Kong, it was a Dries Van Noten story, and it was shot sometime in the late 90's. Along with Maria and her husband, Agusti Camps, I also styled the Chemetoff twins, Paul and Andre. The twins were 16 at the time and now Andre is a major Director of Photography with his own child. Their mother is a major film editor and their uncle the celebrated DP, Darius Khondji. I remember in the end of the 90's Andre assisting Darius on the Polanski film The Ninth Gate, I had a flash of an appearance in it. At any rate it was fun meeting Roman Polanski whose work I've loved ever since Knife in the Water. (1962). One of the many things that I love about a Dries Van Noten collection is the fact that you can find the perfect look for any age. It goes beyond fashion, it is timeless. My subjects went from the 16 year old Chemetoff twins to an iconic model that was 67. I might also add I had great fun doing the casting.
