Dear Shaded viewers,
DIDU presents La Porte Étroite | The Narrow Gate for Spring/Summer 2027, an exploration of intimacy, vulnerability and the quiet complexities of human connection. Moving beyond the conventions of the runway, the presentation unfolds as a living environment in which fashion, everyday rituals and personal narratives coexist.
Founded by Chinese-born, London-based designer DIDU, the eponymous label has developed a distinctive language around sensuality, the body and the subversion of conventional femininity. Drawing on deconstruction, experimental silhouettes and an interplay between exposure and concealment, the brand challenges established ideas of how clothing should frame and represent the body. Its approach balances a provocative visual vocabulary with an interest in identity, intimacy and the tension between public appearance and private experience.

Situated somewhere between a home, a church and a theatre, the space resists a singular definition. Tables and chairs invite guests to settle in rather than remain spectators. There is no fixed audience, no prescribed beginning or end. Everyone becomes both participant and witness, sharing a temporary world in which multiple stories unfold simultaneously.

A tarot reader interprets the cards. A young woman recounts a heartbreak. Someone sings, another reads and writes, while a barista prepares coffee. These seemingly ordinary gestures create an intimate social choreography, bringing together individual emotional landscapes within a shared space. As people gradually exchange seats and move between encounters, relationships shift and new perspectives emerge. The garments reveal themselves organically through these movements, becoming part of lived experience rather than objects presented from a distance.
At the heart of the project lies the idea of The Narrow Gate: the passage into one’s inner world, a threshold that requires a certain openness to enter. Beyond it are the territories we often keep hidden — tenderness, vulnerability, contradiction, longing and the desire to be seen. The collection approaches dressing as an extension of this emotional landscape, where clothing exists not simply to construct an image, but to accompany the many identities and feelings that make up a person.

With La Porte Étroite, DIDU extends this exploration beyond the garment itself, transforming the presentation into an encounter between people, space and emotion. Fashion becomes a medium through which stories are shared, identities remain fluid and moments of connection emerge without a prescribed script.
In this temporary universe, everyone is given permission to let their own story unfold. Nothing is performed. Everything is lived.
Lately,
Eva
