Death Book by Bruce LaBruce

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Death Book by Canadian artist and director Bruce LaBruce reveals a shocking collection of work which questions the perceptions of good and evil, hierarchies and existing values of Western societies.

The book includes a selection of LaBruce’s performances, actions, film production stills and photography. It presents the artist’s morbid fascinations as it reveals his rarely published and unpublished work.

In an interview with Another Magazine, the artists explained that, “Matthew Holroyd, the founder of Baron Books, approached me to collaborate on the Death Book, the second in a series of books about the relationship of photography to death and how death is portrayed in Western culture. As my work often deals in stark and extreme images of violence, gore, splatter and death in all its manifestations, I immediately thought it was a perfect fit for me.”

The book features artists; Kembra Pfahler, Slava Mogutin, Francois Sagat, Tiger Yson, Tony Ward, Ron Athey, Genesis P-Orrdige, Lady Jane, Dash Snow and many more. It also introduces German artist Max Siedentopf, who designed the book as a rendition of the Bible, piercing it from front to back with three punctured bullet holes.

Death Book will be available this Halloween and All Souls day at bookstores, museums, concept stores and at www.baronbooks.co.uk
