For his debut menswear collection, Nathan French breathes life into incredible costume-like garments that shine with eccentricity.
Drawing inspiration from both Victorian taxidermy and African ceremonial dress, he dyed, transformed and interwove vivid layers of human hair and feathers to create unique overcoats, jackets and wings that he offers as an ethical alternative to the fur coat.
Nathan French was born in Wales with Celtic & Anglo-Indian roots. Fascinated with fashion as a form of art, he studied a fashion BA at Central Saint Martins before moving to Italy and then Belgium, where he is currently settled. Inspired by his travels to India, the Middle East and Africa, he explores shapes, materials, fabrics and garments through the combination of traditional costumes from various origins with a post-modern fascination for taxidermy. Some of his creations have been worn by singers, dancers and performers.
