HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE’s first flagship store in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo designed by Tokujin Yoshioka

Dear Shaded Viewers,

HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE’s opened its first flagship store in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo on July 20th.

The concept of the new shop is to convey the fun and surprise of the “monozukuri no gemba(workshop)” In that vain the space to the rear of the shop features a pleating machine, press and sewing machines, as found in the factory. Also on display to view is the brand’s unique method called “seihin pleats (product pleats)”, by which pleats are made in fabric cut and sewn to 1.5 times normal size. Born from machine processing and hand-operated work, there is surprise and discovery in the moment a piece of HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE clothing is produced, as well as the sense of the power characterised by this manufacturing process.

The sweeping 225mretail space designed by Tokujin Yoshioka features colourful  products and boasts a full lineup of the latest collections.
