YANINA Couture: When History Becomes a Woman’s Wardrobe

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Founded by Russian couturière Yulia Yanina, YANINA Couture has built its identity around a dialogue between craftsmanship, romanticism, and the codes of historical dress. For Fall/Winter 2026/2027, the House returns to this relationship with Provocation, a collection that examines how elements of the past continue to shape contemporary ideas of femininity.

Drawing from eighteenth-century tailoring, nineteenth-century silhouettes, and the delicate world of antique lingerie, Yanina revisits historical references without reproducing them literally. Corsetry, lace, ribbons, and embroidery become details within a wardrobe that balances structure and sensuality, reflecting the designer’s ongoing interest in the relationship between costume and identity.

The collection also looks toward the fictional heroines of French literature, recalling the complex women portrayed by Balzac, Maupassant, and Zola: figures shaped by ambition, desire, and social transformation. This narrative appears through sculptural silhouettes, floral embellishments, and new wing-like details that introduce a sense of fantasy without leaving behind the precision of couture construction.

Much of the collection’s character comes from the atelier itself, where flowers are built by hand, embroidery becomes texture, and every detail carries the mark of time and craftsmanship. In Provocation, Yulia Yanina looks to history as a collection of ideas that still resonate today.

Pedro
