Dear Shaded Viewers,
With Aether, designer Aziz Rebar turns couture into a study of identity, examining the invisible structures that shape the way people are seen and the ways they learn to see themselves. Drawing inspiration from Max Frisch’s Andorra, the collection explores the tension between imposed identities and the search for a more personal sense of self.
The language of AZIZ has always been rooted in construction. Through sculptural pattern cutting and unconventional techniques, the house creates garments that appear architectural while retaining a sense of movement and lightness. Sharp structures, delicate materials, and carefully considered proportions reveal a fascination with the space between control and spontaneity.
The collection unfolds as a three-part passage. In the opening act, Control, silhouettes reflect the discipline of expectation: precise lines, symmetry, and restrained gestures create an image of order. The body appears shaped by external demands, with every detail carefully composed.
Gradually, that certainty begins to loosen. During Release, garments shift away from rigid balance as proportions distort, structures soften, and movement becomes less predictable. By the final act, Freedom, the collection arrives at fluid silhouettes and almost weightless fabrics, where the body is no longer contained by a fixed idea of perfection.
AZIZ considers couture as a space where form can question convention. This collection reveals how the structures that define us can also become the ones we learn to move beyond.
Yours digitally,
Pedro
