Dear Shaded Viewers,
This weekend I attended Charles Jeffrey Loverboy’s Life Drawing Class at Dover Street Market Paris, a fun afternoon sketching and sharing with Mattéo Guillot. The night before, I was there for the Loverboy presentation, which went beyond a traditional runway, transforming the space into an immersive, pagan-punk environment with hand-painted fabrics by Charles. The presentation echoed the energy of the original club nights, where fashion, music, and bodies collided freely, creating a sense of community and creative rebellion.
The Loverboy aesthetic remains bold and experimental: layers of wool, silk, lace, ripped denim, and tartans combine with dramatic 80s-inspired silhouettes. The brand’s philosophy (laughter, refusal, care, and mess) celebrates accumulation, individuality, and resilience. In an unstable fashion industry, Loverboy reaffirms its queer, rebellious identity, showing that fashion can be both a form of resistance and a space for community, always for “the weirdos, by the weirdos.”
I captured some scenes using my new Lumix camera, one of the two treasured gifts Diane gave me last week during my graduation dinner celebration.
Special thanks to Marie Montiglio and Alessandro Santagostino.
Yours digitally,
Pedro
