Dear Shaded Viewers,
If Paris Haute Couture Week were a dinner party, Germanier would be the dazzling latecomer who bursts through the door in a riot of sequins, igniting an impromptu dance-off and instantly shifting the mood from polite to electric. Last night, Kevin Germanier didn’t just close the week—he detonated it, sending neon flashes, upcycled sparkle, and pure exuberance ricocheting through the room.
As if this spectacle needed another layer, the ongoing Euphoria: Art is in the Air exhibition at the Grand Palais—running through early September—spotlights Germanier’s boundary-pushing designs, each piece a testament to the pursuit of joy. The synergy between art and fashion reached a fever pitch even before the show began, when two towering, manga-inspired apparitions clad in Germanier’s creations made a dramatic, fashionably late entrance. Their surreal presence set the tone for the evening, blurring the lines between runway and gallery, reality and fantasy, and transforming the prelude into an immersive celebration where couture, contemporary art, and imagination collided.
Germanier’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, aptly titled “Les Joueuses,” was a love letter to the art of play. This was fashion that wanted to be worn, lived in, and twirled around in. Models stomped down the runway in acid greens, fuchsias, and silvers, each look a maximalist mash-up of recycled materials and meticulous handwork.
Germanier’s message was clear: couture doesn’t have to be precious. It can be sustainable and a little bit wild. The show was a manifesto for a new kind of luxury—one that’s inclusive, responsible, and, above all, optimistic. It was a reminder that the future of fashion isn’t just about looking back; it’s about imagining something better, brighter, and a whole lot more fun.
As the last show of the week, Germanier left the crowd buzzing with hope and possibility. “Les Joueuses” wasn’t just a collection—it was a celebration. And in a world that could use a little more joy, Germanier’s playful rebellion felt exactly right.
Later,
Diane
