XULY.Bët’s Latest Show: A Vibrant Celebration of Upcycling and Heritage photos by vlad.c_barasu

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Just a few weeks ago, XULY.Bët, the pioneering Parisian fashion house founded by Lamine Kouyaté, presented his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week. This event marked a significant moment for the brand, known for its innovative approach to upcycling and sustainable fashion. A side note: Robert Altman’s film “Prêt-à-Porter” (released as “Ready to Wear” in the United States in 1994) . In this film, Forest Whitaker played the role of Cy Bianco, a fashion designer inspired by Lamine Kouyaté, the founder of XULY.Bët

XULY.Bët’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, showcased on March 11, 2025, was a tribute to the brand’s roots. Lamine Kouyaté, the artistic director, revisited iconic pieces. The collection featured visible seams, vibrant prints, wax fabrics, sports jerseys, and screen-printed denim, creating an eclectic aesthetic that is quintessentially XULY.Bët. Maximalist styling was evident through  accessories and knitwear crafted from textile scraps, highlighting the brand’s commitment to upcycling and repurposing garments.

XULY.Bët has been a leader in sustainable fashion since its inception in 1992. Kouyaté’s vision of transforming existing materials into unique, avant-garde pieces has inspired generations of designers. The brand’s name, meaning “Open your eyes wide” in Wolof, reflects its mission to challenge conventional fashion norms and promote eco-responsibility.

XULY.Bët’s recent show was a celebration of its pioneering spirit in upcycling and sustainable fashion.
