Dear Shaded viewers,
For Jean-Paul Lespagnard, travelling is more than tourism, fashion design is more than clothes and accessories, and creativity is more than stepping out of a box. Embarking on his latest adventure, Lespagnard wanted to move as far away from the traditional fashion agenda as possible and learn from traditional artisans and craftsmen to do so. The designs come to him as he travels, finding a poetic balance between cultures from every corner of the world and the contemporary approach to dress.
Through his approach, his catalogue grew and continues to grow to all elements of decoration from the body to the home. Each picks up on alternative production techniques that add to the story of the designs. In Paris during Fashion Week, he presented his creative universe as a pop-up showroom inviting visitors to meet his ready-to-wear, accessories, and objects up close and experience what makes them so special for themselves.
The collection is for men, women, anyone in the middle or anywhere in between, made to fit any body or any use. They are designed to last, to become part of the wardrobe and engrained into each of the wearer’s travel memories. Ideas that Lespagnard uncovered in India, Mexico, Morocco, Greece, and the banks of Amblève in Liège, each carry a strong identity that becomes even stronger when brought together. Both organic and graphic prints, found in deadstock materials or so captivating that they had to be recreated, mixed and matched with an unapologetic punch. Silk shirts, rare Japanese fabrics, sand cast gold, and terracotta all create a universe that fits in a suitcase and soon will be anchored in downtown Brussels.

Eliya
